Feeding Our Winter Birds January 12, 2010

We feed our regular backyard birds all winter long with safflower and suet. We have great fun watching the antics of our chickadees, woodpeckers and nuthatches. We have also been “feeding” a resident rabbit! The snow is so high in our yard that he can walk right up to the feeder and eat. Pretty funny.

What’s not so funny is that since the snow is so deep, he also has access to my trees and bushes. I really love rabbits, but only until they begin to destroy my garden. My husband has set out a live trap to see if we can coax him into it. Then it’s off to greener pastures for this furry friend or I’ll have NO garden come spring!
